National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri confirmed on Thursday the death of most wanted terror suspect Noordin M. Top in an exchange of fire during a raid on a house in the Central Java town of Solo earlier in the day.
“The fingerprints we took from one of the terror suspects' bodies matched those of Noordin that we obtained from Malaysia. We found similarity in at least 14 minutiae points, which is a justifiable proof,” Bambang told a media conference at the National Police Headquarters.
He added that the police were still waiting for results of the DNA test performed at the police hospital to further confirm Noordin’s death.
“We expect the results will come up within 30 hours,” he said.
Noordin was among four terror suspects shot dead in the raid. Other suspects were identified as bomb maker Bagus Budi Pranoto, Susilo alias Adit and Aryo Sudarso alias Aji, who was Noordin’s protégé.
