The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) has found that all the campaign teams working for the three tickets contesting the July 8 presidential election violated the campaign fund regulations.
A member of the poll watchdog, Wirdyaningsih, said Tuesday that the police should resume investigations into the violations.
“The end of the election process does not mean the probe into the offenses is over. [Violations of] campaign fund remain unsettled,” she said.
The campaign team for presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri and her running mate Prabowo Subianto was accused of receiving foreign funds from PT Kertas Nusantara, whose major stakes are owned by foreign companies.
Bawaslu also found that the campaign team for presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono had lied in connection with Rp 3 billion in campaign funds it received from PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional. An audit discovered the bank had never donated the money.
The audit team also discovered transfers of funds to the campaign team for Jusuf Kalla and his partner Wiranto which did not go to the special bank account required by the General Elections Commission to keep campaign funds.
Wirdyaningsih said Bawaslu had submitted the findings to the police on Sept. 18. The police will have until Oct. 12 to follow up on the reports.
Yudhoyono and Boediono won the election by landslide and will be inaugurated on Oct. 20.
