The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has urged the government to impose a tax holiday for investors investing in Papua.
"Investors who invest their money in Papua should get incentives like tax
holiday," MS. Hidayat, head of the Kadin, told reporters during the
Papua Investment day in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to Hidayat, the government must create a different strategy to
attract investors to invest in Papua.
"If not, the situation will be not improved even in the next ten
years," he said.
Hidayat said that Papua actually had many beneficial commodities to attract
some investors but was unfortunately hampered by poor infrastructure.
"To build Papua, we have to think outside the box. The finance minister is
playing an important
role here," he said. (naf)
