LIPI announces young innovator award winners

The Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) announced Saturday the winners of the National Young Innovator Awards, who will all represent Indonesia in the seventh International Exhibition for Young Inventors in Vietnam next year.
The winners are Agus Arif Rahman and Edwin Aditya of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 senior high school in Sidoarjo, East Java, through their paper titled "Refreshing Helm", Veronica Pieta Tyas Tejaningrum of SMAN 6 senior high school in Yogyakarta with her paper titled "Safety Child" and Imamuddin Jati Wicaksono of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 junior high school in Yogyakarta through his paper titled "Breast milk container made of aluminum foil”. LIPI also named Safira of SMPN 1 state junior high school in Aikmel, West Nusa Tenggara the favorite winner through her paper "Shoes as an electricity energy source".
LIPI sorted the winners from 15 finalists, who were secondary education students from across the country. The finalists presented prototypes of their invention during the competition held at Indonesian Miniature Park in East Jakarta.
Indonesia has taken part in the annual International Exhibition for Young Inventors since 2005. The competition invites students aged between eight and 18 years old from around the globe.
