JAKARTA: The massive relief efforts being carried out to help those affected by last week's earthquake in West Sumatra have sparked widespread compassion and charitable activities from many circles, including the Wanandi family and Combiphar Group.
The family, hailing from Sawah Lunto, a town close to Padang, which was hardest-hit by the quake, said in a press statement it was very moved by this tragedy and along with the Combiphar Group had provided medicine and Rp 1 billion worth of cash aid.
Two helicopters carrying the Combiphar medicine and a team of doctors flew to remote disaster areas to drop the aid.
The Wanandi family and the pharmaceutical firm have also organized events to raise funds for quake relief efforts. - JP
