SANUR: Sanur Kaja village has launched a green campaign to clean up the village area, as part of the Denpasar Clean Up program.
Village chief IB Alit Wiradana said the campaign included a tree-planting program, village clean-up program and village sanitation program, which would involve the entire community.
Sanur is one of Bali's major tourist destinations. The first hotels and tourist facilities, such as the historic Bali Beach Hotel, were built there.
Sanur is home to museums, art galleries and art centers.
"We want to encourage all residents to take care of their homes and their surroundings," Wiradana said.
He expected the Sanur area to be free from garbage and air pollution by 2010.
"We expect to create an environmentally friendly village; a clean and healthy Sanur," he added.-JP
