Fire razes Bandung shopping center

BANDUNG: Fire destroyed Yogya shopping center in the city of Bandung in West Java on Saturday, injuring three people and prompting local fire agency to deploy dozens of fire trucks to the scene.

News portal kompas.com reported that as of 2:30 p.m., firefighters had yet to extinguish the fire.

Prijo Soebiandono, head of Bandung fire agency, said the fire fighters were having trouble getting water, as the nearest hydrant was far from the burning building. "We are now working to prevent the fire from spreading to residential houses."

Fire trucks were deployed from local agencies in Cimahi, West Bandung and from Husein Sulaiman Airport. - JP
