Families in 50 houses in Jatiwangi village, West Java are in danger of a landslide and a flash flood hitting their homes at any moment, Antara news agency has reported.
Some 15 people in the area have been moved to safer locations, and other villagers have also abandoned their homes, Caringin subdistrict head Uum Suhartini said Wednesday.
Cracks of up to 20 meters long are visible on the ground in the village, which is located near a high hill and may at any time collapse during heavy rain, she said.
The local administration has been having difficulties in moving the village, because it has no available land to provide to villagers.
Elka Nurhakimah, head of the local social affairs, manpower and transmigration agency, said the local administration had only been able to provide villagers with building materials to the families so far.
