SBY approves new BPK leaders

JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has signed a presidential decree on the appointment of seven new leaders of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) says a minister.
State Secretary Hatta Rajasa said here Tuesday the seven new BPK leaders would replace the ones whose term of office would end on Oct. 19, 2009.
"The President has signed the decree on the appointment of the seven new leaders," he said.
The seven were Hasan Bisri, Hadi Purnomo, Gunawan Sida-uruk, Rizal Jalil, Murmahadi, Taufiqurahman Ruki and Dharmabhakti.
The selection of Gunawan Sidauruk and Dharmabhakti sparked a strong protest from the public because the two were still active auditors of the BPK, a situation which was said to be against the BPK Law.
The two remaining leaders recruited in 2007 will end their term in 2012. - JP
