Golkar appoints Setya as its House chairman

JAKARTA: The Golkar Party has appointed its treasurer Setya Novanto as its chairman at the House of Representatives for the 2009-2014 period.

Deputy chairman of the House and party member Priyo Budi Santosa told kompas.com on Wednesday that his party had chosen Setyo for his great capabilities, proved in his capacity as a Golkar member.

"We have come to a decision. Now, we have just to organize a few administrative matters, such as issuing a decree on the appointment," Priyo said. - JP
