Death toll from W. Sumatra earthquake reaches 1,117

JAKARTA: West Sumatra's Natural Disaster Mitigation Board announced Wednesday that 1,117 people were now confirmed killed during last month's powerful earthquake.
At least 675 deaths were recorded in Pariaman, while another 313 occurred in Padang, kompas.com reported Thursday.
The board also recorded 1,214 people suffered from major in-juries and 1,688 others had minor injuries.
As many as 135,448 homes have been badly damaged, while 78,604 suffered minor damage. - JP
