Thailand's Kwanchai Tannin left the field trailing in his wake today as he recorded a convincing seven stroke victory in the US$60,000 Mercedes-Benz Masters Indonesia.

He hit a final round four-under-par 68 at Emeralda Golf and Country Club for a total of 16-under-par 272, according to a release.

Compatriot Wisut Artjawanat finished joint second with Indonesian Johannes Dermawan. Both closed with 71 on Saturday.

Indonesian rising star Andik Mauluddin, and Anthony Fernando from the Philippines finished joint fourth. They returned rounds of 68 and 67 respectively.

Tannin, who ended joint third last week in the Indian Open, finally spilled the beans on why he has hit peak form over the past two weeks.

"I have to thank Boonchu *Ruangkit* and his wife for pushing me to go the gym over the past three months. They told me to get fit so I have been going three or four times a week," said Kwanchai.

Tannin is part of Boonchu's Singha golf development program, which has about 15 young golfers.

The 23 year old revealed he nearly did not come to Indonesia as he was tired after playing in India and did not fancy the long trip. His manager Pimporn persuaded him to play and it proved the right decision.

He won $9,750 for winning what was his first title on the Mercedes-Benz Tour. He has tasted victory twice before on the Thai domestic tour but this week's win is his biggest so far.

Malaysia's Danny Chia and Maan Nasim from Indonesia finished 10 shots behind the winner in joint sixth place. Rory Hie of Indonesia faltered with only 5-over-par 293.

The next event on Tour is in Vietnam, at King's Island Golf Club near Hanoi from from Nov. 11 to 14. The season-ending Tour championship features the top-60 players from the Order of Merit. - JP
