Yogyakarta held carnival to celebrate anniversary

Fourteen hundred people participated in the Jogja Java Carnival themed “Past, Present, and Future,” held on Saturday night to celebrate the 253rd anniversary of the city.

Traditional musicians using bamboo instruments and sultanate soldiers were among the participants of the carnival, which was watched by thousands of spectators.

Yogyakarta Sultan Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X also attended the festival.
