JAKARTA: At least 250 residents from Rawa Badak Utara and Lagoa subdistricts in North Jakarta took part in a motorcade that went around 12 tourist destinations on Sunday morning, as part of a campaign to revive tourism in the municipality.
Riding motorbikes and buses carrying banners promoting tourism, residents started their convoy from the Rawa Badak subdistrict office in Koja.
The 12 destinations include the Tugu Church heritage site, Al-Alam Mosque, Si Pitung house, the Islamic Center Mosque, Sunda Kelapa Port, Tanjung Priok Bus Station and Muara Angke fish market.
North Jakarta Mayor Bambang Sugiyono welcomed the initiative taken by the two subdistricts, citing campaign activity was positive since it helped preserve local history and culture aside from reviving the tourism sector.
