Sukamiskin penitentiary, Bandung, has proposed to the government to release former Aceh governor Abdullah Puteh from the prison on the grounds of good conduct.
Puteh was jailed for 10 years in 2005 for corruption following the purchase of helicopters without a tender.
Rosyidin, head of the Sukamiskin penitentiary, said Puteh had not yet violated any rules in the jail.
Puteh has been allowed to attend events outside the penitentiary due to his good behaviour. On Sunday, for example, he attended a gathering held by Aceh society in Bandung for three hours, escorted by a driver.
