Puteh proposed to be released from prison

BANDUNG: Sukamiskin penitentiary, in Bandung, has proposed that the government release former Aceh governor Abdullah Puteh from the prison on the grounds of good conduct.

Puteh was jailed for 10 years in 2005 for corruption following the purchase of helicopters without a tender.

Rosyidin, head of the Sukamiskin penitentiary, said Puteh had not yet violated any rules in the jail.

Puteh has been allowed to attend events outside the penitentiary due to his good behaviour.

On Sunday he attended an Aceh society gathering in Bandung for three hours, escorted by a driver. - JP
