Alhtough President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has planned to establish a firm 100-day program to measure his second administration's short-term performance, the new House of Representatives says it does not have such a program.
"Our program is for the next five years," House Speaker Marzuki Alie from Yudhoyono's Democratic Party said at the House in Senayan, South Jakarta, Friday.
Marzuki, however, said that the House had a couple of short-term agendas that would be implemented within the next 3 months.
"I want to make it clear that this institution aims to increase the people's trust in it within the next 3 months. Efforts will be made to achieve that," he said.
Marzuki said that for a start, the House would try to improve its internal working system, human resource management and its supporting system.
"We will provide them with in-house training, such as EsQ leadership training, to improve them spiritually," he said.
These trainings were meant to improve the discipline of the House legislators to attend meetings, said Marzuki.
Marzuki, however, said that the House had yet to determine its near future goal in producing laws and other legislative products.
"The House legislative department has just been established recently. So, we will have to wait for it to formulate the National Legislative Program list, and once that list is established, then we can begin selecting which bills will become our priority to be passed into laws," he said.(hdt)
