ALEMBANG: Third seed Jessy Rompies lost to veteran Romana Tejakusuma 6-4, 6-2 in the women's quarterfinals of the Bukit Asam Open in Palembang on Thursday
Romana will take on top seed Ayu Fani Damayanti, a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Dede Tari, in the semifinals, which will also pit Beatrice Rompies against second seed Laviana Tananta.
Beatrice won over Cynthia Melita 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 while Lavinia thrashed Laili Rachmawati 6-0, 6-2.
The men's singles will enter quarterfinal round on Friday. Top seed Christopher Rungkat will be challenged by seventh seed Surya Wijaya. The other matches are Nesa Arta vs. Aditya Harri and Sunu Wahyu Trijati vs. David Agung.
Jessy made amend for her loss by advancing to the final in the doubles, in which she, pairing with Beatrice Gumulya, will play against Ayu Fani and Lavinia. - JP
