AKARTA: The Jakarta Transportation Agency and the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) agreed Thursday to work with the Indonesian Consumer Foundation (YLKI) to promote a 2005 bylaw prohibiting smoking in certain public spaces.
The campaign will be implemented in the form of public advertisements at bus stations and aboard public buses.
YLKI's director in charge of tobacco control program, Tulus Abadi, said he hoped the campaign would start by the end of November.
The bylaw, implemented under a 2005 gubernatorial decree, stipulates public spaces considered smoke-free zones include public health clinics, places of worship, schools, playgrounds, public transportation, public spaces and workplaces.
