World Boxing Association featherweight champion Chris John has his unbeaten run finally ended – by dengue fever.
Chris has been treated at Telogorejo Hospital in his city of residence Semarang over the last two days due to the disease, his wife Anna Maria Megawati told Antara on Saturday.
“He looked healthy, but after an examination he turned out to be sick,” Anna said, adding that Chris’ health was now improving and would need some more days of rest to fully recover.
Chris last beat US contender Rocky Juarez on points in their rematch in Las Vegas to defend his title for the 11th time in September. He has not planned a return to the ring any time soon.
Chris is scheduled to attend WBA Convention in Colombia on Nov. 16.
