West Sumatra Deputy Governor Marlis Rahman has been appointed as the provincial acting governor to replace outgoing Governor Gamawan Fauzi, who became home minister.
"I was appointed as the acting governor by Pak (Mr.) Gamawan," Marlis said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
He added the West Sumatra Legislative Council would later hold a plenary session to declare him as the governor.
"A presidential decree will be needed to officially install me as the governor," Marlis added.
