SMS: SBY's priorities

A- A A+

Your suggestion on the priorities of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his second five-year term.

Justice, President SBY. The famous filmmaker Roman Polanski is considered a fugitive and currently is in a Swiss jail for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. I think Syech Puji, who married a 12-year-old girl in Central Java and has been freed from all charges, is very lucky; because he lives in Indonesia. Don't you agree, President Yudhoyono?

As only Pangestu and Mulyani were judged successful in the first term and were chosen to continue in their old jobs, SBY should tell the new ministers to prioritize and fix the failures of almost the entire previous Cabinet.

The Indonesian economy is certainly to be admired for it has come a long, long way. How rapidly its domestic demand has risen, the stock index faring better than its peers nearby, how strongly the rupiah has come out of this financial crisis, how sheltered the economy was during the financial crisis.

SBY did an excellent job in improving the economy. Now it's time to continue building up its human capital (removing the ultra-nationalism and helping them to be more forward-looking), urban developments, infrastructure etc. I think Indonesia will continue to improve in the coming years of SBY's reign.

Allah bless President Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono and all his ministers, and Indonesia.

I am proud to have a President that is strong and firm. There are no perfect decisions, but only decisions that are made by imperfect people, they may be right or may be wrong. It's only human.

Let us support SBY's decisions. Support him to make him and his team more competent to fulfill the potential of this country. In fact, two days ago I criticized one of his candidates, but the decision has been made, and what I can do now is support it.

Indonesia, I believe, will become a more and more important, internationally prominent player both economically and politically, as it actually has all the necessary ingredients to be such, allowing, of course, all the promises are kept and executed.

Congratulations, President Yudhoyono. I am sure you are going to do a better job to improve the welfare and the prosperity of our people.

I think SBY should not have to focus on anything, but simply continue with his first-term policy, just put it in the fast lane.

I'm afraid President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will again not do anything serious about the human rights situation, because his friends from the security forces are not willing to change their behavior and he does not have the power to act against their will.
