Deputy Attorney General Abdul Ritonga has denied any fabrications in criminal cases involving leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

“We decided to investigate alleged abuse of power and excortion in relation to the murder of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen because we already had enough evidence,” Abdul said.

He added that the evidence was included testimonies from Ari Muladi, Anggodo Widjojo, Edi Sumarsono and former KPK chief Antasari Azhar.

“I and some staffers at the Attorney General Office (AGO) attended a discussion over the cases at the National Police. We then concluded that the cases have met requirements to be investigated,” he said.

Ritonga refused to comment further on the existence of voice recordings of the alleged plot to fabricate the cases.

“How can I give any responses while we have yet to receive the voice recording. And we don't have plan to ask for the recording from the KPK at the moment,” he said.

The KPK has confirmed the existence of the recordings of the alleged plot, which has so far managed to provide police with preliminary evidence to declare Chandra Hamzah and Bibit Samad Riyanto, suspects in the cases.

The recordings are allegedly of a conversation between Ary Muladi, Anggodo Widjojo, a high-ranking official and other unidentified officials and have been widely quoted form in the media since Sunday.

Ary is an alleged middleman with connections to AGO officials and the police, while Anggodo is the brother of Anggoro Widjojo, who was being investigated by the KPK in a corruption case.
