The Polonia International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, briefly suspended flights on Wednesday after a damaged commercial plane disrupted activities.
They said the ill-fated Batavia Airlines plane, carrying 144 passengers, suffered damage to its steering system after landing safely at the airport. No injuries were reported, however, the plane stopped in the middle of the runway, forcing the airport to suspend departing and incoming flights for around 20 minutes.
It took 15 minutes for airport officials to drag the Batavia Airbus plane off the runway.
Polonia airport administration head Rajali Abubakar said the accident occurred at around 12:20 a.m., while the JT 957 plane from Jakarta was landing.
