Bali Police is planning set up surveillance cameras in 75 areas considered “vulnerable” in the city of Denpasar and in Badung regency in an effort to curb crime.
Sr. Comr. I Gde Sugianyar, spokesman of the provincial police, told Antara state news agency on Thursday that 60 cameras would be installed in Badung and the rest in Denpasar.
“The installation is almost complete. Police will monitor the area from three centers in Kuta Police station, Denpasar City Police station and Bali Police headquarters,” he said.
Sugianyar said Badung was a busy tourist area, and crime had been increasing in Denpasar.
The police have also reactivated the 112 emergency phone number for the public.
