PIDIE: A herd of wild elephants entered a village in Geumpang subdistrict, Aceh province recently, damaging three houses and ruining food crops, a local leader said Wednesday.
"For the past week, a herd of about 17 elephants has been rampaging our village. They have destroyed three houses and they have eaten the rice plants in our fields," local community chief M. Sabi told Antara state news agency on Wednesday.
The three damaged houses belonged to Abdullah Saman, Yusri Yusuf and Ibnu Abbas. - JP
