Implicated narcotics officer may lose job

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police drugs and narcotics unit officer Adj. Comr. Mangatur Sianturi, accused of stealing drug evidence and selling it, may face dismissal.

"He will be dismissed *if found guilty*," said drugs and narcotics director Sr. Comr. Anjan Pramuka Putra on Wednesday.

Police members trafficking drugs' is serious violation, Anjan said.

However, the police punishment for Mangatur will await a court verdict on his case, he said.

"His dossier is still at West Jakarta Police," Anjan added.

Mangatur was arrested last Saturday, following a tip-off from a 16-year-old girl who was arrested with crystal methamphetamine on Oct. 14 at the Mirah Hotel in Central Jakarta.

The girl told the police she had obtained the drugs from Mangatur.

Police also seized 16 ecstasy pills from Mangatur, which he had allegedly taken from the Jakarta Police's evidence room. - JP
