BPK to finish audit by year end

The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) expects to wrap up the audit on Bank Century's burgeoning bailout by the year's end, BPK chairman Hadi Purnomo said Friday.

"We are completing (the tracking) flow of funds...[and] we expect it (the audit) can be finished this year," he said.

Previously, BPK third member Hasan Bisri said the BPK was identifying about 100 bank accounts to track through where the Rp 6.76 trillion bailout had been channeled.

Bank Century (now Bank Mutiara) was bailed out in November last year after its capital plunged to the negative zone. Rumors surrounding the case have pointed out there may be political motivations related to the bailout.
