Landslide-prone areas in Central Java have risen from 97 to 135 districts due to uncontrolled land conversion and forest encroachment, an agency says.
“Landslide-prone villages also increased from 423 to 501 villages this year,” head of the province energy and mineral resources agency, Teguh Dwi Paryono, said on Saturday as quoted by Kompas.com
Of the total 35 regencies and mayoralties in the province, only eight were not vulnerable to landslides, he added.
