The Jakarta administration said Saturday it would close the National Monument (Monas) park to the public after midnight from Nov. 1.
Head of the Jakarta public order office, Idris Priyatna, said Monas would be closed from 12.00 a.m. to 4.00 a.m. to prevent youths using the park for sexual activities, Kompas.com reported.
"We have had several cases of sexual impropriety in the Monas park area," Idris said.
Currently, Monas is open 24 hours a day.
