INDONESIA: South Sulawesi Police have detained a drug dealer in Makassar, confiscating 4,000 ecstasy pills, worth almost Rp 1 billion (US$105,000).
Sr. Comr. Totok Winarto, head of the drug crime unit of the provincial police, said Saturday the police had arrested Ferdinand, 36, the alleged drug dealer, and his partner Gundara, 35, at Jl. Sungai Tangka in Makassar, shortly after they picked up the drugs at a location on Jl. Pongtiku on Friday night.
"He hid the drugs in buckets filled to the top with rice," Totok said.
He said the police had been investigating the suspect and had had him under surveillance for the last six months.
The police are questioning the suspect, who said he got the drugs from Jakarta, and are widening their investigation of the case. - JP
