MALAYSIA: The Malaysian government has set up a team to investigate the death of an Indonesian maid, Muntik Bani, who was allegedly tortured by her employer.
Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Da'i Bachtiar said the Malaysian Foreign Minister, Home Minister, and Manpower Minister had condemned the killing.
"The Malaysian Home Minister himself instructed police to set up a team to investigate the death," he said.
He said the alleged murderer had been arrested and put on trial, the hearing was scheduled for Nov. 3.
"We want the Malaysian government to speed up the trial," Da'i said.
Muntik died on Monday in a Malaysian hospital. Her remains will be flown to her hometown in East Java today. - JP
