JAKARTA: City Building Supervision Agency (P2B) said the administration had reported to police 57 owners among 60 illegal buildings on Jl. Pangeran Antasari in South Jakarta, who had allegedly removed building seals issued by the agency, an official said Sunday.

Agency head Hari Sasongko said removing official seals issued by government authorities was against the law and violators faced a maximum penalty of four years' imprisonment.

Hari said detectives from South Jakarta Police had told him they were ready to follow up on the report.

Earlier, the agency had said that as of October this year it had torn down 1,100 illegal buildings. Last year it demolished 700 buildings. -JP
