PURBALINGGA: At least 900 families Purbalingga regency, Central Java, remain isolated following a landslide that buried the road to their village, Panusupan, on Saturday evening.
The road was the only access route to the village. No injuries were reported from the disaster that occurred following heavy rains.
Purbalingga administration public safety chief Supriyanto said residents were forced to walk 5 kilometers to get out of the village.
The landslide had also damaged several public facilities including school buildings, he said.
The damage would likely force teachers to declare holidays for their students on Monday. - JP
