The South Tangerang municipal administration has found that 41,000 of the new city’s population of 1.24 million people have two ID cards.

A recent survey revealed that residents with double ID cards were found in the municipality’s seven districts, Zainal Aminin, head of the municipal statistic agency, said Tuesday.

He said the administration would conduct another census to amend data on residents eligible to vote in next year’s mayoral election in the city, which is located just south of Jakarta .

The agency asked all neighborhood and community unit chiefs in the districts to assist with the census.

“We will verify the demography data for a fixed eligible voters’ list between January and March to help the election commission [KPUD] with the mayoral election next year,” he added.
