The local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency in Surabaya, East Java has issued a warning about the hot weather in the city during the day, when temperatures may rise to 37 degree Celsius, advising less outdoor activity.
“[The temperature] has reached the highest since October,” Rofiq Isa Mansur, a staff member at the agency, told tempointeraktif.com.
Rofiq said that the wet season would come late in Surabaya compared to other regions in the archipelago. Rain has fallen in several areas in the western part of the city and more rain is expected in early December.
Until December, the weather in the city will remain a little cloudy in the mornings and sunny throughout the rest of the day, the agency has predicted.
Prolonged exposure to excessive heat and/or humidity may result in hyperthermia, which occurs when the body produces or absorbs more heat than it can dissipate.
