Corruption suspect Ari Muladi met with deputy chairman of the Witness and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK) on Wednesday asking for protection in criminal cases involving him and two suspended deputy chairmen of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Ari met with I Ketut Sudiharsa from the LPSK at the agency's office in Central Jakarta, kompas.com reported.
Ari declined to comment but his lawyer Sugeng Teguh Santosa confirmed that his client had come to the office to ask for protection.
Ari is suspected to have given bribes to KPK leaders Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, though he has since withdrawn statements he made to the police and denies the charges bribery. (ewd)
