As the Tangerang District court cross-examined Prita Mulyasari, the defendant charged with defamation against Omni International Hospital , on Wednesday, the lawyers and prosecutors were engaged in heated arguments.

Prita told the court that she was disappointed by the hospital’s poor service and wrote an email to her close friends about her experience after the hospital management ignored her complaint.

“Did you feel you were going to die when you write a sentence ‘Don’t let the others have a similar experience’ in the email?” prosecutor Riyadi asked Prita.

The question sparked a protest from lawyer Slamet Yuwono and soon the courtroom was filled in with arguments between the prosecutors and lawyers. They only stopped arguing after the judge told them to calm down.

The trial will resume on Nov. 18, when prosecutors are scheduled to read the sentence demanded.
