TANGERANG: The South Tangerang municipal administration has identified more than 41,000 residents that possess two ID cards, according to a recent survey.
"Residents with two ID cards are spread out in seven districts in the newly established municipality," said the head of the municipal's statistic agency, Zainal Aminin, on Tuesday.
He said the administration would conduct another census in the seven districts to realign the data on residents who have the right to be registered as eligible voters in the upcoming mayoral election.
"Residents with two ID cards disrupt the demographic data and if we do nothing, the administration in South Tangerang will encounter a number of problems after the election," he said.
He said the agency had asked all neighborhood and community unit chiefs to conduct a census in their respective districts, and hoped the data could be verified by January. - JP
