Advertising spending has increased by 13 percent as of the third quarter of the year compared from the same period last year, a survey conducted by PT Nielsen Company Indonesia reveals.
"Until Q3, the ads spending stood at about Rp 35.5 trillion (US$ 3.72billion)," Nielsen Media Associate Director Ika Jatmika said on Thursday.
She predicts that the spending will be increased by 30 percent by the end of this year.
"Our previous surveys have shown this trend thanks to festive seasons like Islamic holidays and Christmas," Ika said, adding that several producers would promote their products in that time.
The Nielsen latest survey also revealed that over the last nine months, political ads have hiked by 108 percent, driven by Indonesia's elections.
"The election held in April and July has increased government and political category by 108 percent, " she said, adding that the category had spent about Rp 2.92 billion during the last night months.
Meanwhile telecommunication products like GSM SIM card dominated products advertised in media.
Nielsen held an ad spending survey of 103 titles of newspapers, 165 titles of magazines and tabloids, and 24 TV station throughout the nation.
