National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Nanan Sukarna said Thursday that police continued to question but not detain Anggodo Widjojo, the key individual in a wiretapped conversation on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) framing, as Anggodo was not a suspect yet.
"His crimes, although still based on wiretapped conversation, have existed," he told a press conference.
"But, still we need enough evidence to charge him and declare him a suspect such as witness statement, expert statement, and letter."
Nanan said police also tried to avoid being labeled as abusing their power in this case.
"Everything must be legal and legitimate," he added.
Anggodo was said to be released from the National Police headquarters detention center on Wednesday night.
