The eight-strong fact finding team formed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to probe into an alleged plot to frame the anti-corruption body's leaders has threatened to resign, citing that its recommendations have been left unheeded.
A member of the team, Hikmahanto Juwana, said the team had recommended that businessman Anggodo Widjojo be arrested and National Police detective chief Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji be suspended, but received no response from both National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri and the President.
"I don't know why the authorities under the President have failed to positively respond to us. I think if we do not receive any positive response, what are we for?" Hikmahanto, a professor of the University of Indonesia's School of Law, told Antara Thursday.
He said he planned to return the presidential decree on his appointment to the team soon.
Another team member, Todung Mulya Lubis, shared in the disappointment. Todung said he would join Hikmahanto in quitting the team.
"There has been a discourse among several team members who want quit because of their disappointment with Anggodo's release and the absence of announcement of Susno's suspension. They are very upset as some bare facts in the eyes of the public are not explained," Todung said.
The team members are scheduled to regroup to debate the resignation plan.
