House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie from the Democratic Party has asked National Police and Attorney General's Office senior figures to resign for their alleged role in an plot to undermine the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"They, however, keep on talking about using the proper legal process," Marzuki told reporters on Thursday.

Commenting on the resignation of Attorney Generals Office (AGO) deputy chief Abdul Hakim Ritonga this morning, Marzuki said that it was a gentlemanly thing to do.

"I also believed such a move must be followed by other officials allegedly involved in this fiasco," he said.

Separately, People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Taufik Kiemas of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) refused to comment on the issue.

Ritonga was one of the high ranking law enforcement officials mentioned in a tape recording, which revealed a plot to arrest KPK deputy chiefs Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

Other than Ritonga, National Police detective chief Com. Gen. Susno Duadji was also mentioned, and he is also said to have resigned from his post.
