Nine Constitutional Court (MK) judges, including chief judge Mahfud MD, made a sudden visit to the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Thursday, and went straight to the House’ ninth floor to meet with the leaders of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).

"We just want to get know each other better," Mahfud told reporters briefly before entering the meeting room.

Mahfud and his colleagues were greeted by the MPR chairman, Taufik Kiemas from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), and his four deputies, including Lukman Hakim from the United Development Party (PPP).

The Constitutional Court, along with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has been considered the nation's hope for law enforcement integrity, dealt a blow by the playing of a recording that contained conversations between several high-ranking officials from the National Police and the Attorney General's Office and the younger brother of graft suspect Anggoro Widjojo, Anggodo Widjojo, that allegedly showed them planning to fabricate evidence so as to incriminate two KPK deputies.
