A search and rescue team removed on Thursday four bodies from the wreckage of a police aircraft which crashed on Mt. Dorman in the Pass Ilu area in Puncak Jaya on Monday.
Head of Jayapura Search and Rescue Agency, Suyatno, said the team put the bodies, believed to be pilot Adj. Comr. Yunus, co-pilot Adj. Comr. Benedictus and technicians Brig. Kuswanto and Brig. Syaiful, into four body bags, Antara reported.
Suyatno said evacuation of the bodies would depend on the weather. A helicopter is ready at the team's base camp in Dabra, situated close to the site of accident, to fly the bodies to Jayapura for identification only if the weather was favorable.
"Hopefully the weather will get better to facilitate the evacuation," he said.
