President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received credentials from five new ambassadors from European and African countries at the State Palace on Friday.
The new envoys are Belgian Ambassador Christiaan Tanghe, Swedish Ambassador Ewa Ulrika Polano, German Ambassador Norbert Baas, Hungarian Ambassador Szilveszter Bus and Mozambican Ambassador Carlos Agostinho do Rosario.
Tanghe served as ambassador to the Philippines in 2002-2005. He was the director for Southeast Asian affairs at the Belgian foreign ministry prior to his posting.
A former ambassador to Mexico, Polano started her career with the foreign ministry in 1980 as a third secretary in the Swedish Embassy in The Hague. She then moved to Hanoi, Kuwait, Baghdad, Bissau, Buenos Aires, Damascus and Bonn.
Baas is a former ambassador to Georgia (1995-1998) and South Korea (2006-2009). He started his career with the German foreign ministy in 1978.
Bus is a former director general for American affairs at the Hungarian foreign ministry. He joined the foreign service in 1991.
