JAKARTA: The city Fire Department said Thursday it needs to recruit around 3,000 new firefighters to fortify the existing 3,200 amid the high incidence of fires in the city.
Department head Paimin Napitupulu said each firefighter team should be manned by six firefighters running one fire engine.
"Currently, we only have three firefighters in a team. As well as personnel, we also need more fire engines," he said. The department now has 165 fire engines. The ideal armada is 465 fire engines. - JP
