AYAPURA: A search and rescue team removed four bodies Thursday from the wreckage of a police aircraft which crashed on Mt. Dorman in the Pass Ilu area in Puncak Jaya three days earlier.
Jayapura search and rescue agency head Suyatno said the team put the bodies, believed to be pilot Adj. Comr. Yunus, copilot Adj. Comr. Benedictus and technicians Brig. Kuswanto and Brig. Syaiful, into four body bags.
The four bodies had been evacuated to Dabra, close to the site of accident but due to bad weather, only one of them has been airlifted to Jayapura, Suyatno said.
He said the three other bodies would be flown to the Sentani airport in Jayapura for autopsies Friday if the weather was favorable.
