Candidates from political parties will be accepted when the State SOE Ministry selects new directors and commissioners for 10 state firms next week.
State SOE Minister Mustafa Abubakar said Friday any candidate, including politicians, would be eligible for the posts “as long as they possess the abilities and capabilities required for the posts”.
Among the state companies to receive new leaders are postal company PT Pos Indonesia, gas and oil producer PT Pertamina and steelmaker PT Krakatau Steel.
The accepted candidates will replace directors and commissioners who have left their posts for new assignments.
Pertamina’s chief commissioner Sutanto and human resources manager Waluyo have been appointed the State Intelligence Agency chief and acting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief, PT Pos chief commissioner Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean has been named acting KPK chief and Krakatau Steel’s chief commissioner Taufiqurrahman Ruki has been elected as a member of the Supreme Audit Agency.
In the past, state enterprises had the notorious reputation of being cash cows for political parties.
