The fact-finding team inquiring into the alleged plot to frame Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies says the absence of witness Yulianto may prevent the team from obtaining a complete picture of the scandal.

Chairman of the team Adnan Buyung Nasution said Friday the team had arranged to question Yulianto, but his whereabouts were not known.

“Yulianto has not been found yet,” Adnan said. “It has sparked the questions ‘is this person fictitious’, ‘has he fled’ or ‘has he involuntary disappeared’.”

Middleman Ari Muladi said he had asked Yulianto to distribute money from graft suspect Anggoro Widjojo to several KPK officials, including deputies Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

In his dossier, key witness Ari admitted to falsifying a letter (dated June 5, 2009) to lift a travel ban on businessman Anggoro with help from Yulianto on June 8. The letter appeared as if Chandra had signed it.

The team is scheduled to question Ari on Saturday.
